Details

• Logistics: Fill out and follow the instructions in the registration form. Then, pay the tournament entry via Cash App.
• Date: Saturday, May 23, 2026.
• Scheduled Time: Runs from 10:15 AM - 4:30 PM ET (rounds at 10:15, 11:00, 11:45, 12:30, 1:15, LUNCH (from 2:00-3:00), 3:00, 3:45)
• Location: East Lansing Public Library - 950 Abbot Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823
• Prizes: Assuming a thirty person tournament, the prize pool is $250; first place wins $200 and top upset wins $50. Prizes scale based on actual tournament turnout (e.g., ten person turnout - the prize pool is $84; first place wins $67 and top upset wins $17). Top upset is determined by the largest player point differential where the winning player has a lower rating. New USCF players are ineligible for the top upset prize because they do not have an existing rating to calculate a point differential on.
• Format: Seven round swiss
• Rating: USCF quick and regular rated
• Time control: Game 5 with 25 second delay (G/5; d25)
• Please bring: chess clock, pen, and chess set
